Yesterday I attended one of the screenings during the Stockholm Movie Days (Film Festival), unfortunately, I had a lot of work so sadly I could only attend one the movies, Ralph Breaks The Internet AKA Wreck It Ralph 2.
Though to my huge disappointment, it was the Swedish version, why would one even consider showing that I don’t know, but I was already there so I figured I’d just embrace it and see the dubbed version of this animated comedy.
The duo Ralph and Vanellope are back, this time they discover WiFi and enter the world of internet to save Vanellopes game or she might end up without one, meaning no home nor knowing who she actually is if she doesn’t has her game to go to. It all goes well until V finds a new game and starts questioning her fate, does she want to go back to her old predictable game, or stay in this new one? Something that completely shatters Ralphs heart.
What seems to be an innocent friendship turns out to be rather creepy, at least from where I was sitting. Ralph is close to obsessed with V and her friendship, his own insecurity broke down the entire internet world, it just came to this point where it became creepy, even the lines V gave him to calm him down, ”I’ll go with you and I’ll be your only friend, it’ll just be you and I. Just how you want it.” I don’t know if that should be a message one would like to send out to mini adults, the ones this movie is mostly aimed for. It got weird and uncomfortable, besides that it’s a cute and charming film. 5.5/10
